NCAA eligibility rules govern whether a player can compete in college baseball. Violations can result in loss of eligibility, and ignorance of the rules is not an excuse.

The Core Requirements

To be eligible to play NCAA baseball, a player must graduate from high school, complete the required number of core academic courses, achieve the minimum GPA in core courses, achieve the minimum SAT or ACT score, and register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

The Amateurism Rules

NCAA amateurism rules restrict what players can receive before college. The rules around Name, Image, and Likeness have changed significantly in recent years. Consult the NCAA Eligibility Center for current guidance.

Register Early

Register with the NCAA Eligibility Center no later than the beginning of junior year of high school. This process takes time, and delays can create problems during the recruiting process.
